Executive Director's Welcome

Siobhan

A very warm welcome to Term 4!

It's hard to believe that we are now in the last term of 2022. Term 4 is an extremely busy one for us here in the CSPWA office. In addition to commencing the wrap up for this year, we are also preparing for the beginning of next.

We are currently receiving lots of calls seeking advice about the Annual Community Meeting and the role of the P&F in this. You will find some useful information regarding the various items that need to be addressed further down in the newsletter, however as always if you can't find what you're looking for, please don't hesitate to call us.

You will all be aware by now of the new Terms of Reference which have been developed for unincorporated P&Fs in Catholic schools in WA. Additional information regarding the transition to this new single model of operation will be forwarded directly to your school in the next week or so. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you are unsure about any of the requirements of this new model.

Term 4 is when many of us are thinking about transition, whether it be transition from home to Kindy, transition from primary to secondary school or indeed transition from one year to another. This can cause levels of anxiety for some children (not to mention their parents!!) Taking a little time to manage this positively and pro-actively can make a big difference in helping our children to look forward to their new experience rather than dreading it. Catholic School Parents Australia have developed a comprehensive guide for parents and teachers to help everyone navigate this somewhat anxious time. To access this toolkit, please click here.

Of course we cannot talk about Term 4 without acknowledging the Year 12's who now move from school days into the next phase of life. It can be both exciting and scary at the same time. Whether the next phase of the journey is travel, joining the workforce, university, apprenticeship or a gap year, please don't feel that you are now expected to know everything. Never be afraid to ask for help. Many many young people commence on one pathway only to find that it is not the right one. That is ABSOLUTELY FINE. In addition, no-one is expected to know how to do something that they haven't done before. Parents, carers, aunts and uncles will be more than willing to chat about options, assist with applications for taxfile numbers, superannuation and of course, which is the best Greek island to visit while reminiscing about their own post school days!!

For those commencing ATAR exams next week, please take a minute to read Madonna King's message in the CSPA newsletter further down.

Finally, take time to enjoy all the lovely events that mark the end of the school year. Final assemblies, Christmas carol practice, sundowners, orientation days to name but a few.

Until next time- God Bless!
