Volunteering
Research shows that being a volunteer can have lots of benefits. These can include:
- giving you a sense of meaning, achievement and purpose
- helping you feel part of a community, strengthening your ties to the community and connecting you to people with similar interests.
- helping you feel better about yourself by improving your self-esteem and confidence
- helping you share your talents, learn new skills and create a better work-life balance
- helping to combat stress, loneliness, social isolation and depression
- helping you meet new people, which can help you feel more connected and valued, and help you to develop a solid support base (Source: Health Direct).
